BODY & SOUL:
Rethinking and Reclaiming Sexuality
Mondays in June @ 6:45pm (Chapel)

For far too long, conversations about sex and sexuality in churches and in religion have been considered taboo and controversial and have stoked fear and discomfort. Religious leaders and people of faith have too often approached discussions about our bodies and sexualities from a place of shame, repression, and prohibition. If we are made in the image of God, then why has it been so difficult to perceive the godliness of sex, sexuality, and pleasure? If Jesus brought good news to all people, what is the good news of God about our bodies and our sexualities? In this class, we explore the biblical and Christian witnesses to rethink and reclaim our sexualities in the effort to embrace Eros and redeem pleasure as godly endeavors. We will explore how to rescue our bodies and sexualities from silence and the closet to affirm justice-based sexual relationships that are formed in love, care, mutuality, and justice. All are welcome!
